England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, the healing of our land.
I’ve recently been to Wales for a few visits in a short amount of time, I really like it there, it’s spacious and the air does seem a little cleaner and fresher there.
When you speak to people of visiting Wales you still seem to find an attitude of the English towards the Welsh that is simply bizarre, what is it all about? There is a very long history of animosity between the English and Welsh, just one flick through Wikipedia and you can see there is a history of war, bloodshed and fighting, one
thing that I’m sure about is if we are longing to see the kingdom of God come, we must ask for the land to be healed.
A few days ago I e-mailed a friend about the historic divisions between England and Wales, yesterday I was reading Martin Scott’s website and he was talking about identificational repentance, I wonder if we as a English believers need seek
forgiveness for more than sending Children to former colonies but also our empire building, our blood shedding and the terrible ways in which we (our English ancestors) have treated millions over the years?
We are ambassadors of Heaven, in heaven there is no division, there is no empire, there is no violence. As representatives of heaven you and I have the authority to go before the King of Kings and ask for the forgiveness for our nation.
2 Chronicles 7:14 says If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. Is there more repentance to be done?
The history of Scotland and Ireland is also scattered with similar stories…
I personally long to see the UK in revival, and I don’t just mean a flash in the pan outpouring (though even that would be great), but an ongoing, life changing, history making, culture shifting, reformation, maybe we need to continue to call out in repentance and see the land healed?
- Just a thought.
Amen to that.
Thanks for this post, Jason. It’s good to see English Christians grapple with the whole issue of repentance for past generations’ wrongs. In Wales, too, we are having to look at our own attitudes and actions towards the English. Repentance should not be a one way street between our two nations.
Some of this work is already ongoing with people like Roger Mitchel at the forefront of the movement. Recently I led a walk between two villages on Anglesey which were heavily affected by Edward I. It was great to see both Welsh and English walk together to begin a process of healing. (More on my own blog on the walk and the history.)
Seeing the spirit of empire kicked out of our land will have a beneficial effect on both Wales and England. So we all have an interest in working through these things.
Dyfed.
I was actually looking for someone else on the net, and I came across your website. To be honest, Jason, I don’t believe for one minute that it was really an accident, i.e. as a true bible-believing Christian like yourself the Lord had it this way.
Anyways, I just thought i’d say hello, and keep up the good work.

thanks John, good to hear from you, drop in anytime, Jason
Absolutely Brilliant Jason! I had a wonderful read:-) Blessing s to you and keep up the great work on this Blog!
Well, I’m Irish and an atheist. I have no time for religion. For me it’s a waste of mental energy. I do love Wales though. My wife and I were married there. She’s English, so Wales was neutral turf.
Thanks Maggie
Hi Paul, I agree religion is a total waste of energy, time and pretty much everything else (an excellent discussion to be had there
) but in loving our land we can bring healing, and I’m sure we can both agree it needs it.
